'Passing Time Like Sand Through Our Fingers' Anon, 2006.

Not that much has happened really. We moved Islands Ko Phangyan. People around here are really really easy going, visitors like it so much they never leave...well apart from the monthly VISA run into Burma and back. We have fitted into the pace of life like a round peg in a round hole. It is cheap to eat out in the evenings, there are parties on the beach most evenings and videos showing on big screens in most bars. We went snorkeling off the coral reef, today and visited some Elephants. Its going to take some will power to leave and head up North to Chang Mai and maybe Laos. Trying to appreciate it, as time is passing through our fingers and we'll be looking back as we leave on the boat. Hope all is well with you.

Culture Vultures & 'Quiet Americans'

Yesterday we met not so quiet Urmericans Dan, John & Melissa and their Thai buddy Jon in a beach cafe and they told us about a lady-boy show we just had to go to. Not ones to miss out on a 'cultural' experience me and the Vickster headed down there, as pictures can say a thousand words, i'll shup-up, see below. A quality night had by all. Off to Ko somewhere else next if we can move our lazy deriere's ('bum', for the uncultured amongst us).

Midnight Express to Ko Samui

We left wonder-wierd Bangkok a few days ago, I'm losing track of what day it is, nothing new there. We got the night-train down to Surat Thani, or something, port. I didn't get much kip on the train as there were quite a lot of dodgey-looking characters around. Next was the ferry blah blah bah, Vicky got Bangkok belly and spent the day on the toilet, thank the great lord for Imodium. So now we're in Ko Samui and its a bit like any resort in Spain or Greece except with nicer beaches, pretend Western food, really friendly people and really dangerous roads. Oh yeah, I drove a moped into a scummy-brakish ditch and broke a wing mirror and scratched the thing. We went on an expedition to get a new wing mirror fitted. We got away without paying for the damage somehow. I am sticking to my two left feet for the remainder of the holiday. All's good. We are on a Belguim resort. Jer Voo drey une room for the nui Monsure...oh you speak English, what a shame I could have shown off my splendid grasp of French.

Temples and Stuff

We vsited the big temple to the Emerald Buddha the other day, a 'must do' apparently. The whole temple complex was impressive, it was really ornate and colourful. Though with all the tourists around, and as it was built from concretey stuff around 200 years ago, it wasn't that magical. Its no Rochdale Town Hall. No it was good really. We didn't stay long though we got bored and headed over to China-town for some Dim-sum, except they were all meat or fish dishes so I had roasted nuts, which was fine.

What I would do for a block of chedder cheese, a hunk of of bread. Mmm. Anyway...

Up the Wrong Alley in Bangkok
2nd day in Bangkok

Whoops, took a wrong turn and ended up walking down Bangkok's gay-sex show street. Fat, hawaii shirt wearing, cigar smoking American men and seedy English Grandads with skinny young Thai men, an eye-opener to say the least.
Throwing off the chains of work...for now.

Some of my workmates...correction ex-workmates in Nandos, London for my leaving drinks. All the best to everyone still left at the eGov Unit, they say that you know a ship is sinking when all the rats start leaving. Good luck to all of you!
